Privacy and data-use disclosures

PlanetSentry does not require accounts to browse the site. This page explains what limited technical data may still be processed to operate and improve the product.

Last updated: 2026-04-16

What we collect

PlanetSentry may receive standard request data such as IP address, browser type, referrer, approximate location inferred by infrastructure, and server logs needed to operate the site securely and diagnose problems.

Analytics and performance monitoring

The site uses Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand aggregate usage, page performance, and product stability. These services are used to improve reliability, not to profile users for account-based features.

Local browser storage

If you use features such as alert preferences, the site may store lightweight settings in your browser through local storage so the interface can remember them between visits.

Third-party data providers

PlanetSentry requests public scientific and hazard data from third-party providers such as NASA, NOAA, USGS, GDACS, RainViewer, and Open-Meteo / CAMS. Requests to those sources may be proxied or cached through PlanetSentry infrastructure to improve reliability.

Advertising disclosures

PlanetSentry does not currently display Google AdSense ads on every page. If Google ads are enabled in the future, this policy will be updated to disclose the use of cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, and related ad-serving technologies, along with a prominent link to Google's partner data usage documentation.

How to contact us
